[00:01.1]
Hello and welcome to The Own Your Health podcast, I'm Cyndi Lynne, and I can't wait to help you step into your health power. Now today I'm going to dive into the second most popular excuse in our dynamic duo. Last week we talked about not having enough time and the secret to finding it.
[00:18.4]
And if you haven't checked out last week's episode, I'll put the notes, I'll put the link in the show notes and you can have a listen there. Today we're going to talk about I don't have enough money. We're going to go after that excuse, and I can tell you now it's going to feel a little controversial.
[00:37.5]
I could give you tips on how to find the cheapest organic produce or a list of the dirty dozen of fruits and vegetables to avoid. I could tell you all of the ways that you can exercise without an equipment or, or having to go to the gym.
[00:55.3]
And I could give you a list of sources for free, healthy recipes or workout routines, and that would be okay. And there's loads of places to get that information online and out in the world. But when it comes to owning your health, giving you those tools won't be as powerful is what I'm going to talk about right now.
[01:19.3]
Owning your health is much more about overcoming limiting beliefs, one of which is the excuse that you don't have enough money to take ownership of your health. Now, part of the reason that this can be so controversial is that people will argue, as they love to do, that there are some folks who really don't have any money.
[01:41.7]
And that's absolutely true. And those individuals need a different kind of help with a different focus than we're talking about today. But if you're listening here to a podcast to help you take ownership of your health, I'm going to assume that you're already in a different place.
[02:05.3]
You're listening on some kind of device. You have some sort of time. You are already making choices every day about how you want to spend your time and your money. That's the place that you're in. You've come here because this is where you're going to find help.
[02:24.0]
So for this audience, it's much more about how you choose to spend the money you have. And we all do this every day based on our values. Now, I encourage you to take a look at how you spend your money in the same way that last week I asked you to look at how you spent your time.
[02:46.6]
What are your priorities? I'm not here to judge. I'm here to encourage you to evaluate if the way you spend your money matches up with your stated priorities. Or maybe there's a gap. As with how we spend our time, the how and way we spend our money can be so habitual that we don't even recognize it.
[03:12.0]
We don't even see anymore. We get to the end of the month and the money is just spent and we had enough to get through the month. So you already spend money on groceries. Are you choosing items that support your health goals, or are you just buying the same old things and then thinking the grocery budget is gone?
[03:33.8]
You're already spending money on clothes and shoes. Are those choices supporting your goals? You're already moving out and about in the world. Are you doing so in a way, are you intentional so you're doing it in a way that contributes to owning your health and not just living? Now it would be very easy for me to recite the now trite recommendations of giving up your latte and saving thousands of years.
[04:03.0]
But my saying it won't make it a priority for you, no matter how true it might be. And I know because for so many years I relied on experts to tell me to stop spending on this and put the money towards that. Someone else to problem solve my perceived money shortage.
[04:21.9]
And that was great because then I had some expert to rebel against when I really just wanted to justify spending in an area that they forbid. But that never put me in the decision making seat. I never own those decisions and to be honest, I barely owned the consequences.
[04:43.6]
So like your time priorities, put all of your money on the table figuratively. Is your spending aligned with your personal goals, including your health goals? Or are health goals an afterthought?
[04:59.5]
And if not, what needs to change? Now, as always, I'm here to help. Down below you're going to find a link if you want to jumpstart your ownership and we can work together. If you like this episode and you want more, please rate it and share it with somebody you care about.
[05:19.8]
We're in this together, so until next week, let's go out and own it.
